This book has been written by Sadr-ul-Afzal Maulana Mufti Naeemuddin Muradabadi رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ. As the name suggests, this book mentions the heart-wrenching events of 10 Muharram 61 AH and the great martyrdom of the exalted Imam، Hazrat Hussain علیہ السلام. Along with the main events that took place in Karbala, it also describes the events after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ. The book begins with the mention of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى ٱللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ and the era of Prophethood. Then, it gradually moves ahead, giving a brief account of Rightly Guided Caliphs رضوان اللہ علیھم اجمعین and the period of caliphate. Then, it describes the events leading to the pinnacle at Karbala. Some of the topics of the book are: Sayyid al-Shuhada Hazrat Imam Hussain رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ, The Blessed Birth, the Events of Martyrdom of Imam’s Followers, the Departure of Hazrat Imam Hussain رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ from Madina, Departure for Kufa, onwards to Karbala and beyond. The aim of “Sawanah-E-Karbala” is to present the real facts of the history of Islam and to dispel doubts and suspicions.
